A New Week

I must say I am really loving my blog again! I have missed chatting about my weekly happenings and sharing our design world and experiences with you. 

Today I thought I would share some more photos of our showroom, we opted for a classic yet edgy look that works in both a traditional and modern interior. We wanted to show Brisbane an entirely different look, our design philosophy is classic timeless looks that are edgy and fashion forward yet liveable and practical. 

I love working with colour but I am even more drawn to the classic beauty of neutrals with plenty of texture and interest, more on that over the coming weeks. Currently we are working on some exciting projects: a boutique guest house, a large coastal home, another fabulous beach house property and to top it off two lovely clients whose children have moved on and its now time for the parents to spoil themselves and make the family home more of a grown up place for adults. 

We are also working on a new build which is always fun and my favourite type of project as I get to be involved in the entire building and design process, there is nothing more rewarding than that final installation day! 

So my blog is going to more about our design process and happenings at Verandah House, we can't wait to share more with you soon.

Island Style

As a designer we are exposed to so many amazing looks and the best part about having a showroom is being able to show our clients we just don't specialise in one look. I  have dedicated a space to be all things island style, relaxed, fun and family friendly so far is proved to be a favourite with so many of our clients!

Bedroom Glamour

Its been so long since my last blog post but if you have been following our FB and Instagram pages you will know we have been busy with the new opening of our showroom. We just love having a beautiful creative environment to work in and so far our client response has been overwhelming! Not a day goes past that we are not putting together some fabulous scheme, so keep coming back to visit our page as we intend to be more proactive on our blog. Every week we will be posting images of our current work and what's inspiring us every day at Verandah House.

Our ever changing bedroom scheme features the colour mauve, we love this classic American look - grey panelled walls, mauve linen and european silver bedside tables add that touch of glamour. Our custom bedhead and valance with contrasting trim adds interest and creates a seamless look. Personally I'm loving our new silver leaf ottomans with mauve snakeskin leather that are placed at the end of the bed and they look great.

A Recent Project

Over the last few months we have been working on finalising projects and starting several new ones too! Our recent completed project is a house we designed and have worked on for the past year and with several set backs of bad weather, we finally have this beautiful home up for sale.

Our clients gave us total freedom to design a home which made the task very exciting and daunting all at the same time. We wanted to create a classic beach house however it was important that it appealed to the majority. We also had the difficult task of building a large home on a very small block of land that literally has the water lapping up to its backyard.

We wanted the floors to appear like driftwood with a recycled grey-wash finish which we also continued onto the large deck areas. The walls were painted a soft grey with timber panel millwork throughout the home. The home was furnished on a tight budget so we opted to decorate the main areas in classic neutral tones so our potential buyers could add their own design aesthetics and personal touch to the home.
